15 Years of Memories: A Family That Feels Like Mine
It’s hard to believe that I’ve been working with this incredible family for 15 years. From the very first photoshoot with them, to now, capturing their beautiful moments has been such an honor — and honestly, they’ve become like family to me. Over the years, I’ve watched their kiddos grow, each with their own unique personalities, and it’s been such a joy to document their journey.
For this session, we met at the beautiful Southern Methodist University (SMU) campus in Dallas, a spot that has always been special for them. The campus provides a perfect blend of natural beauty and timeless architecture, making it a stunning backdrop for family portraits. The weather was perfect, and as always, their love and connection were the real stars of the show.
One of the things I love most about this family is the way each child’s personality shines through. Over the years, I’ve had the chance to see these kiddos grow from toddlers into the bright, vibrant individuals they are today.
Their oldest is the natural leader, always looking out for her younger siblings with such grace and care. She’s independent, wise beyond her years, and has a way of bringing everyone together, whether it’s with a shared laugh or a calming presence.
The middle child is full of energy and creativity. Every time I see her, she’s always bursting with ideas — whether it’s a funny pose, a unique expression, or a spontaneous dance move. She brings such a lightness and joy to every session, and her enthusiasm is contagious.
The youngest is the sweetest little soul, full of curiosity and wonder. He’s the type of kid who looks at the world with wide eyes, constantly amazed by the smallest things. It’s no surprise that he always ends up with a big grin on his face, captivated by the moment and all the love around him.
Though each of these kids has their own distinct traits, they come together in such a beautiful way. Their bond is undeniable — and you can see it in the way they interact with one another, supporting and loving each other in every moment.
This session was a mini session, but you wouldn’t know it by the way the family came together. Even in a shorter amount of time, we were able to capture so much love, laughter, and personality. We spent time walking around the SMU campus, letting the kids be themselves and interacting with the environment. From playful moments in front of the stunning arches to more intimate family shots, the entire session was filled with authentic moments.
What I love about this family is that they’ve always embraced the natural, candid moments of our shoots. The smiles that come from real laughter, the way the kids interact with their parents, the shared glances — these are the photos that will hold meaning for years to come. And it’s those moments that I always aim to capture.
What makes this family even more special to me is how their love has deepened and evolved over the years. In every photo I’ve taken, it’s clear that they not only share a connection with each other, but that they also have such a deep trust and understanding of one another. From those early toddler days when we’d try to get the little ones to smile, to today when they are all growing into such amazing individuals, it’s been such a privilege to watch them evolve as a family.
The love between the parents is just as strong as ever. You can see it in the way they look at each other, support each other, and guide their kids with so much care. The foundation of love and patience they’ve built is truly something to admire.
After 15 years of working with this family, it’s become more than just a job — it’s a friendship, a shared history, and a collection of memories that I hold near and dear. Every time I get the opportunity to photograph them, it’s a reminder of how lucky I am to be a part of their journey.
To this beautiful family: Thank you for trusting me to capture your memories for so many years. Watching your kids grow and seeing the love you share has been one of the greatest privileges of my career. I’m beyond grateful for your friendship and for all the moments we’ve shared. Here’s to many more years of beautiful photos and cherished memories.
