For this first birthday, his parents chose a theme that was as colorful, fun, and full of wonder as

he is: The Very Hungry Caterpillar! This beloved children’s book by Eric Carle, with its vibrant

illustrations and charming story, served as the perfect inspiration for a birthday photoshoot, and

where better to capture the magic than the elegant Reby Cary Library? With its timeless charm

and peaceful atmosphere, the library provided an unexpected but perfect backdrop for this

imaginative theme.

Setting the Scene: A Magical Blend of Nature and Books

The first thing that made this shoot so special was the juxtaposition of the whimsical caterpillar

theme with the classic, serene beauty of the Reby Cary Library. The library’s gorgeous, historic

exterior was framed by tall trees and sprawling green lawns, making it feel like we had stepped

into a magical storybook world. The grandeur of the building set the perfect tone for a themed

shoot that was both playful and sophisticated.

 

The Outfit: Little Caterpillar Ready for Adventure

He was a sight to behold in his outfit! He wore an adorable Hungary Caterpillar shirt which was

reminiscent of a caterpillar’s body, with books! The bright colors and playful design made it

clear that this was no ordinary photoshoot—it was an adventure into the world of Eric Carle’s

famous character! His big, curious eyes and contagious smile made the theme come to life.

Every time he crawled around, it was like we were watching the caterpillar in the story come to

life.

Inside the Library: A Cozy, Storybook Moment

We took the photos inside the library. The Reby Cary Library’s charming interior, with its high

ceilings, wooden bookshelves, and soft, natural light, was the perfect setting for a cozy, storytime

moment. We brought out a Very Hungry Caterpillar book for a few shots of him sitting and

looking at the colorful pages. His little fingers touched the pictures, as if he was trying to join the

caterpillar on its delicious journey through the pages.

One of the sweetest moments was when he was sitting on the floor, surrounded by a pile of

books, including his own Very Hungry Caterpillar book. His excitement and wonder as he

flipped through the pages captured the joy and curiosity of childhood, and the library’s calm

atmosphere added an extra layer of warmth and charm to the photos.

 

A Birthday to Remember
