Beginning the journey

Each and every family that I get the honor to meet and capture thru my lens is special.  I always say that they are part of the Chunky Monkey Family.  I love the idea of starting from the beginning at the newborn stage and watching them grow up as a family together.  All the milestones, all the smiles or giggles.  To have the opportunity to be a part of this time with them is an honor.  Let’s walk thru a newborn session together.  

Meeting the Family

I first met mom and dad at their beautiful home in Aledo, just out side of Fort Worth.  We met to capture their maternity session.  We had such a great time capturing their excitement of their little girl in the beautiful nursery and around their home.  So when they let me know that they had delivered their little girl and they were ready for their newborn session in my studio.  When they walked in the day of their session, they were just beaming with joy.  They had such a beautiful baby girl and I was excited to capture all of her beauty.  

All about their beginning 

My newborn studio is located in Azle, which is just north of Fort Worth , TX.  It is an easy drive from most about anywhere in the DFW area.  When you come to my studio for your newborn session, you will be hands on with picking the colors we use, which props you like and then get to sit back and relax and enjoy watching the session.  This mom was drawn to the pinks, creams and whites as we went though the session.  Their daughters skin was perfect for that color scheme.  We got to use multiple different headbands to accentuate her tiny features.  I typically start with the posing of a newborn at the beginning of a session.  They are nice and sleepy and are able to change positions with no problem.  After the posing is complete, we move on to props. Mom picked my favorite props in the my studio at the time.  We got to use the boho set up as seen below and the swing.  She rocked all of her newborn session and her images turned out beautiful.  

The flow of the newborn session

Each baby that comes into the studio is different.  Their personality, their temperate and their patience.  Some babies sleep thru the whole newborn session and some need a few feedings and lots of love which I am more than happy to give.  This little one slept thru the whole session.  She just let me change things up as we went and was more than happy with whatever I did.  To say the least, she made my job easy.  

After a family leaves my newborn studio, I take a moment to go in and pick up the mess I just made.  But, it gives me the time to relive some of the moments we just had.  The tiny smiles we saw, the big messes that were made or just the amazing part of getting to have been a part of the beginning of another amazing life.  When she left my studio, I was excited to get to the editing part that comes a week or two later.  Knowing that beautiful memories were just made makes my job the best that there is.
