Preparing for your newborn session should be exciting—not stressful. One of the questions I hear most often is, “What do I need to bring?” The answer is simple: just your baby and a few feeding essentials. At Chunky Monkey Photography, I’ve created a newborn experience that allows parents to relax while I take care of every detail.

When you arrive, the studio will already be warm and ready for your little one. Newborns love warmth, which helps them stay cozy and sleepy throughout the session. I have a large collection of wraps, knitted outfits, bonnets, bows, blankets, buckets, bowls, beds, and beautiful handmade props, so there is no need to purchase anything before your appointment.

Every newborn session is completely baby-led. If your little one needs to eat, cuddle, or simply be held for a few minutes, we pause. There is never a rush. Some babies sleep through their entire session, while others prefer to stay awake and show off those beautiful eyes. Either way, we create stunning images you’ll treasure forever.

Parents and siblings are always encouraged to participate. Some of my favorite photographs are the quiet moments—a mother’s gentle kiss on her baby’s forehead, dad’s protective embrace, or a proud big brother or sister meeting their new best friend. These images often become the favorites hanging on your family’s walls.
