Like I have always said, getting to photograph all these littles is the best job ever. But I think I found something that is even better than that. As much as I LOVE to photograph all my Chunky Monkey Families, the best job is getting to photograph my own littles, this time it was my beautiful niece Abigail. I am on a mission to make sure they love and adore pictures just like their Yaya (that’s me!).
So my niece, Abigail, lives in Florida so I don’t get to see her in person as much as I would like so when I do I try to soak up as much time with her as possible. So when I got a chance to play around with her in my new dress (yes…this is available for shoots!!), I took it. Her favorite thing to do right now is to have a tea party and she LOVES unicorns so we made it happen. She is about to turn 5 in August so capturing her in all of her imagination stages is so much fun. Also, meet the Unicorn here! You can have him at your very own photoshoot!
So all of my nieces and nephews have had my camera in their face since the day they were born. So when I asked her if she wanted to play tea party and dress up, she was all for it. As soon as I turned the camera on, she turned on the best and biggest smile. She just did what I asked and she had so much fun. From pretending that she was stirring tea and sugar to feeing her teddy bear friends cookies, she was just adorable. I had done a shoot before hers and the skies were getting dark with storms so we were in a hurry to get what we needed before it started to rain and we made it. It started to sprinkle on us as we ran back up to the house.
I have always said my job as an aunt is full of fun, excitement and love. So getting to giggle, laugh and act goofy with my niece is a moment I don’t take lightly. She is growing up fast, even faster since we don’t see each other in person often. But, knowing that my heart is fuller because of her is all I need. Her smile brightens up the room, her giggles are just perfect and when she looks up at you and says, “Thanks Yaya for taking my picture” just means the world to me. It’s the simple things.
So this fun shoot was a quick last minute thing as they came thru Texas on the way to visit other family. I am so glad that we had a chance to do it. Even more so, I get to go back to Florida in a few weeks and its family picture time on the beach. More giggles, more chasing and laughing and more unbelievable memories captured that I will love forever.
